The Doctrine of Election: A Response To The Critics
When Predestination and Election are discussed, everyone within earshot suddenly becomes engaged and raises questions they were never concerned about before. It is possibly the most controversial doctrine the Church of Christ has had to struggle with. It is one thing to struggle with whether or not someone is predestined unto life, or in other words, Elected. This implies there is an elite privileged group that receives God’s grace unjustly. But to further the matter of confusion, what about those we love and their eternal condition? How are we to accept the knowledge that our children, spouses, or loved ones are not elected? I know this is the question that may crumble your entire view of God. What about so-and-so? What about my child? What about my family? What about my spouse? What about my friends? What about my co-workers? What about my neighbors? What about all those good people in the world? What about the innocent? What about the mentally challenged? What about the physically challenged? What about all those people who live right and do their best? What about them? How can a loving God not be willing to save everyone and give everyone a chance?
