Arguments Against Free-Will Theology: Part 3

God does not need you! What a way to start an article, right? To be told that God doesn’t need you can be hurtful and insulting. Let me clarify when I say God doesn’t need you, it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love you. God loves you enormously, but he doesn’t need you. He doesn’t need you to do anything for Him. God is self-sufficient and complete, so He doesn’t need anything outside of Himself.

This concept may be new to you, and for obvious reasons, it is not preached or taught anywhere from the pulpit or classroom. It gives off the impression that God doesn’t care or is unloving, which causes some to deny it aggressively.. ‘How dare you tell me God doesn’t need me? That’s not what the Bible says,’ they would say. The Bible doesn’t say directly that God doesn’t need us, but it is implied in His nature and attributes (Acts 17:24-25; Psalms 50:10-12).

Instead of fighting with temptation, channel your energy into doing something positive or good for someone else. The more this becomes a habit, the more temptation becomes a positive act rather than a precursor to sin. Temptation thrives on attention. The more you struggle, fight, think about or play with temptation, the more powerful and stronger it gets. Ignore temptation, do good, and it will flee.

(Read James 4:7–8 for more guidance)

Sin and shame keeps our heads bowed down. Interestingly, we do the same when we pray. The connection? Humility. A proud heart dows not bow, nor does a wicked heart. But a humble heart recognizes its need for help. When we pray, we are seeking help. Humility is the key to approaching God. This is done through Jesus Christ. Look up with a humble heart, and look at the cross of Christ for your salvation.

(Read Luke 14:11 for more guidance.)

Have you ever wondered why you sin? I mean if you have received Jesus Christ as your lord and Savior, then why do you still sin? Shouldn’t you be free from sin? Isn’t that what Jesus promised in the Bible? Have you ever wondered why sin is so hard to overcome? In other words, why do Christians continue to sin? Didn’t Jesus say you we would be free from sin?

Yes, He did. He gave us the ability to say no to sin and freed us from sin’s penalty, which is death.

However, we aren’t free from sin’s presence—not until we enter Heaven. The sin you struggle with today, has been paid for on the cross of Christ. You are just living out your sinful human condition. Your sins of your past. Present, and future have all been paid for in Christ if you have faith in Him. All means all.

Don’t be surprised that you still sin. This is why He came. This is why He died. You are a sinner, and this is why He loves you.

(Read Ephesians 2:1–9 to learn more.)

One of THE most asked questions by Christian believers is about knowing God’s will for their lives, and this often related to career or marriage decisions.

Christians pray earnestly for answers to these significant questions, but their prayers often come with presuppositions.

If you’re asking about God’s will, it might mean you haven’t spent enough time with Him to understand it. The more time you spend with God, the less you’ll need to ask about His will—you’ll already know it. Time with God leads to understanding His desires and expectations.

So, the next time you ask about God’s will, consider if you are not really seeking confirmation for an answer you’ve already decided in your heart, or if you are genuinely seeking His guidance. If the latter is the case, then God’s will for you is to spend time with your Creator. Get to know the One who knows your future.

How can we show God how much we love Him?
Have you ever wondered what it means to love God? I mean, how do you love…God? Is it a deep emotional feeling for God? Is it serving and obeying God? When we feel love for another person such as a child or family and friends, we can communicate our love to them because we can see and hear them. Yet how do you love an invisible God who is audibly silent? How do we show Him that we love Him?
The Bible answers this in one word: through and to “others.”
How you treat the people around you, are opportunities for you to show God how much you love Him. What does this means? For example, helping the poor and needy, showing kindness to the unkind, loving your enemies. These are all acts God takes personal and receives your love. So the next time someone cuts you off on the road to work, or talks about you behind your back, show God how much you love Him.

(Read Matthew 25:31-46 for more.)

We often feel discontent because we’ve convinced ourselves we need more. This creates a sense of lack and a desire to control the situation, making us impatient with God’s timing.

True contentment comes from patience, not accumulation. God provides all good things, but in His time. This builds our faith.

Next time you feel discontent, remember: “Not never, just not now.” Long for God as deeply as you long for that desired thing.

Read 1 Timothy 6:6–9 for more.

It’s tough when a loved one doesn’t share your Christian faith. You want them to experience the life-changing grace you’ve found. But negative reactions can be discouraging.

Remember, your primary goal is to love them, not convert them. Focus on your relationship with God and trust in His timing.

This is a test of faith. Are you willing to submit to God’s will, even if it means your loved one never believes?

Abraham, Job, and even Jesus faced similar trials. These moments refine your faith. Let God work in you. Trust in His goodness and sovereignty. If prayer feels ineffective, simply trust in who God is.

Reflection Passage

James 1: 2-4

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. (ESV)

Why Theology Matters (Now More Than Ever)

Hey friend, I’m so glad you’re here. I started Faith for U Today because I know how overwhelming life can sometimes feel. There’s just so much coming at us — news, social media, everybody’s opinions. It’s easy to feel confused, lost, or even wonder if faith still has a place in all of it.

Maybe you’ve even thought,
“Does learning about God really change anything?”
I’m here to tell you — it absolutely does.

Theology (which is just a fancy word for learning about God) isn’t something only pastors or scholars need. It’s for everyday people like you and me — people who are trying to figure out how to live, love, and make sense of this crazy world.

When you start really getting to know God:

  • Your view of life changes — you start seeing God’s fingerprints everywhere.

  • Your choices change — you learn to trust Him even when life is hard.

  • Your heart changes — you find a kind of hope and peace you didn’t even know was possible.

I’m not sharing this as someone who has it all figured out. I’m still learning too.

But I can tell you this — theology has transformed my life.
And it can transform yours too.

This blog is here to make it simple. No pressure, no heavy theology textbooks. Just real conversations, real answers, and real faith that stands strong — even when life gets messy.

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to start.

Putting Amazing Back into Grace: Embracing the Heart of the Gospel

What does it mean to be "saved by grace"? Now revised and updated, this classic reminds readers of the Reformation's radical view of God and his saving grace, the liberating yet humbling truth that we contribute nothing to our salvation. It lays out the scriptural basis for this doctrine and its implications for a vibrant evangelical faith. Horton's accessible treatment will inspire readers with a fresh amazement at God's grace.

Practical Theology

Parenting with Theology in a Confusing World

Parenting isn’t just about setting rules—it’s about shaping hearts for Christ. What we believe about God shapes how we teach, discipline, and love our children. Trusting His sovereignty gives us peace, and understanding His grace helps us extend it. Practical theology equips us to raise kids who know and follow Christ, even in a world that pulls them in every direction.

Helping Teens Build a Faith That Lasts

Teenagers are bombarded with questions, doubts, and cultural pressures—but practical theology gives them the foundation they need to stand firm. When teens see that Christianity isn’t just about rules but a real relationship with a sovereign and loving God, their faith becomes personal, not just inherited. Understanding who God is, why Scripture matters, and how biblical truth applies to daily life equips them to navigate challenges with confidence and conviction. A faith rooted in solid theology doesn’t just survive—it thrives.

It’s Time to Wake Up Christian

Have you grown comfortable in your faith? Drifting, stagnant, or just going through the motions? Jesus didn’t call us to a lukewarm, halfhearted belief—He called us to follow Him fully. If your faith feels weak, if sin has crept in, or if you’ve been coasting spiritually, it’s time to shake off the apathy. Theology isn’t just for scholars—it’s for you. A shallow faith won’t carry you through life’s trials, and it won’t stand against the pressures of the world. Dig into God’s truth. Confront your doubts. Surrender your life completely.

Apologetics

The Problem of Evil and Suffering: Where Is God in Our Pain?

If God is good, why does He allow so much suffering? This is one of the hardest and most common challenges to Christianity. Apologetics doesn’t ignore this question—it confronts it head-on. The Bible never denies the reality of evil, but it does offer something no other worldview can: real hope. Christianity teaches that suffering isn’t meaningless—God is at work even in our pain. Through Christ, we see that God doesn’t just allow suffering; He entered into it, taking the worst of it on the cross to bring ultimate redemption. The question isn’t just why suffering exists, but where we turn in the midst of it. Let’s explore how biblical truth offers answers, purpose, and unshakable hope in a broken world.

The Reliability of the Bible: A Solid Foundation for Faith

Can we really trust the Bible? In a world full of skepticism, this question is at the heart of apologetics—the defense of the Christian faith. If Scripture isn’t reliable, then Christianity collapses. But if the Bible is truly God’s inspired Word, then it holds the ultimate truth. The good news? The Bible isn’t just a collection of ancient writings—it’s historically verified, archaeologically supported, and theologically consistent. Its prophecies have been fulfilled, its message has remained unchanged, and its impact is undeniable. Your faith isn’t blind—it’s built on a rock-solid foundation. Let’s explore the powerful evidence that proves Scripture is trustworthy, unshakable, and worthy of our belief.

Science and Faith: Enemies or Partners in Truth?

Can a Christian believe in both God and science? Many assume that faith and science are at war, but apologetics reveals a different story—one where science actually strengthens belief in God. The more we explore the universe, the more we see order, design, and precision that point to a Creator. From the fine-tuning of the cosmos to the complexity of DNA, science unveils the fingerprints of God in creation. Christianity isn’t anti-science—it’s the foundation for why science works. If truth is what we seek, then we have nothing to fear from honest exploration. Let’s dive into the evidence and discover how faith and science not only coexist but complement one another in pointing to ultimate truth.

Biblical Theology

The Old Testament: Foundations of Biblical Theology

Inside these articles, you’ll discover how the Old Testament isn’t just ancient history—it’s the foundation of God’s grand story of redemption. Biblical theology helps us see how every law, prophecy, and promise points to Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Malachi, you’ll find God’s character revealed, His faithfulness displayed, and His plan for salvation unfolding, showing that the Old Testament is just as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago.

Men and Women of the Bible: Lives Shaped by God’s Truth

The Bible is filled with men and women whose lives were shaped by their understanding of God—some walked in faith, others wrestled with doubt, but all played a part in His greater plan. Through these articles, you’ll explore figures like Abraham and Sarah, David and Esther, Paul and Mary, seeing how their stories reveal God’s character, promises, and redemptive work. Biblical theology helps us connect their experiences to our own, showing that the same God who guided them is still at work in our lives today.

The Story of Redemption: God’s Plan from Beginning to End

The Bible isn’t a collection of random stories—it’s one grand narrative of God’s plan to redeem His people. Through these articles, you’ll see how biblical theology connects every part of Scripture, from creation to the cross to the coming new creation. You’ll discover how sin broke the world, how God’s promises pointed to a Savior, and how Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection fulfilled God’s plan of redemption. This is more than history—it’s the story that changes everything, including your own life.

Systematic Theology

Knowing God: The Heart of Theology

Theology isn’t just about gaining knowledge—it’s about knowing God Himself. That’s what Theology Proper is all about: studying who God is, His nature, and His attributes. This is the foundation of everything we believe. But how do we make sense of such a vast and glorious subject? That’s where Systematic Theology comes in. It helps us organize biblical truth into clear, connected teachings, so we can understand God more deeply and worship Him more fully. Are you ready to move beyond vague ideas about God and build a faith that’s strong, informed, and unshakable? Let’s dive in.

Christology: Knowing the Real Jesus

Who is Jesus? It’s the most important question you’ll ever answer. Christology, the study of Christ, isn’t just an academic pursuit—it’s the key to understanding our salvation, our faith, and our very purpose. The Bible reveals Jesus as fully God and fully man, the perfect Savior who fulfills God’s promises and reigns as King. But too many settle for a vague or distorted view of Christ. Are you ready to go deeper—to move beyond clichés and truly know the Jesus of Scripture? Let’s explore His identity, His work, and why He alone is worthy of our trust, worship, and obedience.

Pneumatology: Life in the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is often the most misunderstood person of the Trinity—yet He is the very one who empowers, guides, and transforms us. Pneumatology, the study of the Holy Spirit, helps us move beyond confusion and truly understand His role in our lives. He isn’t just a force or a feeling; He is God, actively working in and through us. Do you want a faith that’s alive, bold, and Spirit-filled? Let’s explore who the Holy Spirit is, what He does, and how walking in Him changes everything.
