When Life Becomes Real: Where Is God When We Need Him The Most?

Why God?
Why did this happen?
Why me? Don’t you care?
Where are you in all this?

Have you ever asked those questions? Maybe you are asking those very questions now. Where is God when we need Him the most? Why does it always seem like in the midst of our pain, God is missing? We believe that if God were here, then none of this would have happened. If God truly cared about us, then he would have stopped that cancer from forming, or stopped the divorce from happening, or prevented that child from dying. Where is God when we need him the most? Are you suffering right now? Do you feel like God has abandoned you? Are you angry and upset at the situation? The outcome? The diagnosis? Are you angry at God? Where are you, God? If you truly loved me, this would never have happened! Where are you?

Have you looked at yourself today? Do you like what you see? If so, why? What about yourself do you like? Or if not, then why? What is so horrible about yourself? Would you say you know yourself? Would you say others know you better? Do you think you know others more that they know themselves? Are you so sure? When God looks at you, what does He see? Do you still see the same thing that God sees? Is God incorrect in what He sees about you? Want answers? Read on…

Who Is The Devil? Part 5 of 7: Bringing Back Memories

Ah…the joys of memories. All of us have them. Some good. Some bad. But all of us have memories we carry with us. Some say in death, that is all you take with you. How true that is, I don’t know because I never died before to give an accurate account. But memories are what shape us and form us to be who we are. With our memories, we make our decisions and choices in life. Our memories tell us whether we like something or should avoid it. But what happens when we let the devil play with our memories? Can the devil harm us and lead us to sin by our memories? Can our lives be reshaped by the evil one if he warps and replays our memories in the wrong way?

Who Is The Devil? Part 4 of 7: The Devil Is In The Details

If you’ve ever watched a professional billiards game, you will notice that the pool players always plan around five to seven shots ahead of the one they are working on. They know the physics and trajectory of where the ball will go, and set up for the next shot up to five or seven strokes. In the same way, the devil plans ahead what he wants you to do. He sets us up step by step, move by move, until you don’t realize how close you are to the edge of falling. As the saying goes, a frog thrown into a hot boiling water will be in shock and jump out, while a frog in warm water will remain and not notice the heat and temperature slowly rising. The devil plays the long game and the short game. He is patient and willing to wait for you to sin. If he cannot get you to sin immediately (short game), then he will lure you into it over a period of time (long game). He is not stupid. He has been playing this game for a very long time.

Who Is The Devil? Part 3 of 7: Hear No Evil

Do you sometimes talk to yourself? As children, we do this while playing with toys and other random objects. We can see kids having full conversations by themselves while they play in their imaginary world. Do you ask yourself questions and ponder issues as if you are having a conversation with yourself, like you did as a child? Do you sometimes rationalize about things, excusing the guilt? We all do this. We all talk to ourselves. The movie over-dramatizes this by scaring people into thinking that the kids are talking to dead spirits. Science will validate that children’s minds are in development and are more likely to have creative imaginations that often exceed those of adults (Abraham, 2018). But as adults, do we suppress this imagination of speaking to someone in our heads and conclude it is just our conscience?

Who Is The Devil? Part 2 of 7: In The Beginning

Who is the Devil, and where did he come from? The Bible describes the Devil as a created being. This is very important to understand about the Devil: that God created him. He did not co-exist with God, and he is not eternal in nature. He is a being made for a purpose and a reason in the grand drama of redemption. He is a character in a movie and not the director or producer. He is just an actor, but very good at what he does.

Who Is The Devil? Recognizing the Enemy You Know Part 1 of 7

The Devil is one being that everyone knows, yet no one actually knows. He was a creature, just like all other creatures created by God, that somehow became the devil? Was he created evil, or did he become evil? Who is the devil, and why is he out to steal, kill, and destroy? In this article, we will delve into the character and nature of the devil, revealing the schemes and tactics he often employs, but which we frequently fail to recognize. He is a craftsman who likes to plan and scheme evil and malicious deeds, to cause us to fall and turn away from God. He wants to keep you unbalanced in either too hot or too cold, never in the middle. He will allure you into sinning, then accuse you of committing that sin. He is a master craftsman at designing sin and temptation to lead people to their doom. Who is the devil? He is your enemy. He is the one causing all the pain and struggle. He is the one who has been deceiving you all these years. He is the shadow that lingers near you, but we don’t recognize his voice or actions. My aim is that this article will help you see the Devil for who he really is and how he lures and tempts you.

When Life Hurts Too Much: What the Bible Says About Suicide

“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
– Psalm 34:18

I need to talk to someone today—maybe that someone is you.

Maybe you’re scrolling late at night, and your chest feels hollow. Maybe you’ve been smiling in front of others, but quietly breaking behind closed doors. Maybe you’re here because you’re thinking about ending your life—or because someone you love already has.

I want to say this from the bottom of my heart:
You’re not crazy. You’re not weak. You’re not beyond hope.
But you are hurting. I see it, and more importantly—God sees it.

From Dust To Glory by R.C. Sproul

The late R.C.Sproul was one of the Reformed giants of teachers as he had a talent of explaining complex theological doctrines in ways anyone could understand. In this video series, he goes over the entire Bible and how it tells of the story of redemption from Genesis to Revelation. I highly recommend watching this series as it will give you a well rounded overview of the Christian faith.
